Brook Montagna, Mindful Life Coach
Before listing the certificates and licenses that make me a “Life Coach”, I want to tell you about some experiences that changed my life and continue to inspire me to help others create meaningful and fulfilling lives.
This information will give you a good idea of what I bring to the coaching relationship. If you would like to know more about how I can help you, I invite you to Schedule a Complimentary Coaching Consultation.
About 25 years ago, I had a promising career as an analytical chemist and I was married with two small children. Life was pretty good, I thought, even though I knew my marriage had problems. It seemed like I was on my Yellow Brick Road that would lead me to happiness and success.
But, in the period of less than a year, my life went through so many changes that I felt like Dorothy after the tornado. Not only did I go through a separation and divorce, but our 5 year old son was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and then died within 5 months of his diagnosis. My world had been turned upside down and the pain was more than I could handle at times. Putting it mildly, I had no preparation for this experience, and I was so lost I didn’t even know there was a Yellow Brick Road. For me, it was a long arduous journey, requiring a lot more wisdom, compassion, and courage than I had at the time to get to ‘home’ – to a life of meaning and purpose.
In the beginning, I searched for answers and guidance outside myself. Metaphorically, I made many trips to Oz to become educated and trained in psychology, therapy, meditation, and spirituality. The new knowledge was, and still is, invaluable. But the most important answers came when I looked within, when I began to live more mindfully, and discovered that the potential for real happiness and success is in each present moment. The truly important lessons came through the mindful application of the skills and knowledge to my own life – so that I could face my fears, the lions and tigers and bears, battle the wicked witches of my dark nights of the soul, and finally find my way home.
There are many more details about my life that contribute to my skill and qualifications as a life coach (See my souvenirs from visits with the Wizard below.) But it’s my own life journey that makes me passionate about helping clients get unstuck and get through whatever they are going through to find their way home – to the life they are meant to live, one of happiness and success.
