My Newest Mindfulness Practice is a Purple Bracelet

Maybe you saw it on Oprah? It is part of an international project called Complaint Free Living. I’m finding it requires a high degree of mindfulness!

The process is simple: You put a bracelet on one wrist and wear it there until you complain about something. When that happens, you switch the bracelet to the other wrist. Remember, gossip and criticism are forms of complaining! Each and every time it happens, you switch the bracelet. The goal is to keep the bracelet on the same wrist for 21 days in a row.

When I started this no complaining diet, I knew I needed to be very mindful of my communications. What I’ve learned since is how the increased mindfulness of speech would require that I become even more conscious of my thoughts – which were not all that positive! The good news is that through mindfully choosing to communicate without complaints, my thoughts have already transitioned to be more positive, accepting and creative.

In case you’re wondering – I’m on day 5. I’ve started over quite a few times, once after 15 days, and I don’t mind at all. This Diet is really fun and for me, every mindful moment is a success. And I’d like you to benefit, too.

Are you ready to transform your communication with the no complaining diet? Get started by reading the information at www.acomplaintfreeworld.org. You can also order the book and bracelets, which are very helpful.

Stay motivated by entering this discussion. How was your first day (or even your first hour)? Why do you want to do this? Who do you want to share it with and why? And, most importantly, how is your life changing as you learn to communicate with no complaints?
